Conference – Our Common Future Under Climate Change

This is a four-day Conference that is the largest forum for the scientific community to come together ahead of the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21) of the United Nations Framework Convetion on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2015.

The International Scientific Conference Our Common Future under Climate Change is taking place six months ahead of the UNFCCC‘s COP21, which will be hosted by France in December 2015 and has been called “Paris Climat 2015”.

Building on the results of the 5th Assessment Report (AR5) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the Conference will address key issues concerning climate change in the broader context of global change framed in four overarching objectives:

  1. Provide state-of-the-art scientific knowledge on climate change.
  2. Explore a wide range of pathways combining climate change mitigation and adaptation, and sustainable development.
  3. Assess the potential for evidence-based solutions to climate change challenges.
  4. Contribute to a science-society dialogue.

The Conference will also welcome Side Events organised by different stakeholders.

The conference is organised under the umbrella of the International Council for Science (ICSU)Future Earth, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and major French research institutions, with the support of the French Government.

The Scientific Committee of the Conference is chaired by Professor Chris Field, Co-Chair of IPCC Working Group II.
