Unai Pascual appointed member of the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel of IPBES

Unai’s nomination on the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) was announced at the third session of the Platform’s Plenary held on 12-17 January 2015 in Bonn, Germany.

Unai, member of the scientific steering committee of ecoSERVICES, was appointed as one of the fifteen members of the Multidisciplinary Expert Panel (MEP) of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

Unai, who is originally from the Basque Country in Spain and who is based in this lush country for his life and work, was appointed to represent the United Nations region for Western Europe and Other States on the MEP. He was selected, along with four other representatives, among fourteen candidates for this region.

Earlier, Unai was a member of the smaller group of experts selected to support the development of the guide and catalogue on policy support tools for Deliverable 4(c): Catalogue of policy support tools and methodologies.

The MEP is a subsidiary body of the Platform that facilitates its work by carrying out the scientific and technical functions of IPBES.
